Arsenal confirm signing of Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge

Arsenal have confirmed the signing of winger Christos Tzolis from Belgian Pro League champions Club Brugge.

The Greece international joins as the Gunners' third summer arrival following the decision to make Piero Hincapié's loan from Bayer Leverkusen permanent and the free transfer of Illan Meslier after his exit from Leeds United.

As Tzolis joins Mikel Arteta's side, he is the first major signing in what fans will be hoping is a huge bolster in their attacking depth ahead of the new Premier League season.

Arsenal's interest in signing Tzolis was first revealed in mid-June when David Ornstein confirmed the league champions were exploring a move to sign the Greek winger from Club Brugge.

Separate to their failed pursuit of Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers, the Gunners accelerated talks with the Belgian side for Tzolis before reaching an agreement on 16 July. Those reports came following confirmation that Leandro Trossard had joined Beşiktaş, with his Greek counterpart expected to be a direct replacement.

Tzolis signed for Club Brugge in July 2024 and was a crucial player during his two years in West Flanders. He scored 43 goals and provided 45 assists in 108 appearances for Blauw-Zwart, winning the Belgian Cup in 2025 and the Belgian Pro League in 2026.

He has also been an important asset for the Greece national team, receiving 34 caps and netting nine times for his nation since making his senior debut in October 2020.

The winger has previous experience of playing in England, having played for Norwich City between 2021 and 2024. He made 30 appearances for the Canaries, 14 of which came in the Premier League having made his top flight debut in a 1-0 defeat at Arsenal in September 2021.

The Greek international joins the Gunners as part of an expected improvement of their attacking depth with Arteta keen to improve on the options that helped him win his first league title last season. As he acts as a replacement for Trossard, there is an anticipation another left winger could join the club alongside him this summer.

Tzolis has reportedly signed a five-year contract and is set to wear the number 17 shirt for Arsenal. He has already joined up with his new teammates for pre-season.
