Arsenal managed to get back to winning ways over the weekend with a 2-1 win against Leeds United at the Emirates. It leaves the Gunners three points behind rivals Manchester City, who beat Liverpool at a hostile Anfield.
One of the positives for Arsenal was Noni Madueke, who started at left-wing and impressed, despite him being a natural right-winger. Christos Tzolis was injured, which is why Madueke started there, and even though he may not be the long-term solution, he put in a solid display.
The left-wing spot remains an issue for Arsenal, though, as they sold Gabriel Martinelli to Al-Hilal and Leandro Trossard to Besiktas in the summer, failing to replace both of them. Apart from Tzolis, the Gunners don't really have a natural left-winger, forcing Arteta to play the likes of Madueke and Eberechi Eze there instead.
Tzolis has looked good at times, but also doesn't seem ready to be the real difference maker on the left-hand side yet, so Arsenal will certainly be keen to bring in another winger in the January transfer window.
Arsenal are reportedly interested in Antonio Nusa
According to The Sun's Journalist Ekrem Konur, Arsenal are interested in signing RB Leipzig and Norway winger Antonio Nusa, who has been electric in the Bundesliga so far this season. Konur claims that Arsenal are 'locked into a race' to sign the 21-year-old with Premier League rivals Newcastle and Aston Villa, and that Leipzig have set a price tag of £60 million for him.
Nusa really caught the eye during the World Cup, scoring in the Round of 32 against Côte d'Ivoire. He has been excellent so far this season too, scoring three goals and providing three assists in the Bundesliga.
Nusa plays with Erling Haaland and Martin Odegaard with Norway, and can thrive as a pacey option down the wing, especially when he can cut inside and take a shot with his stronger right foot. In that sense, he's a very similar winger to Bukayo Saka, but just on the opposite side.
The 21-year-old has been with RB Leipzig since August 2024 when he joined from Belgian side Club Brugge. Since then, Nusa has made 78 appearances for the German side, scoring 14 goals and providing 14 assists, proving that he can both create and score himself, which is exactly what Arsenal want on that left-wing.
He'd be a fantastic addition, and with competition from Newcastle and Villa, Arsenal can pitch as challengers for the Premier League and the Champions League, and the potential for him to claim that left-wing spot almost instantly. It's certainly a story to keep an eye on.
