As always, the Arsenal fanbase is divided on one transfer. We are, of course, talking about Noni Madueke.
After Fabrizio Romano gave the rubber-stamped seal of approval yesterday, Arsenal fans were quick to make their thoughts known. On the glass half empty side, fans pointed out how signing players from Chelsea has a less than 1% hit rate. On the glass half full side, fans were getting behind their new player (you know, the way it should be).
Regardless what you may think about yet another signing from Chelsea, that's just the way it is. Greeting Madueke with crossed arms is no way to go.
Noni Madueke's hidden skill benefits Arsenal the most
Noni Madueke immediately offers a whole new dynamic to Arsenal which could come in handy when needed. Sure, he might not have the creativity of Odegaard or the curling ability of Saka, but he does have one thing that no other Arsenal attacker except Gabriel Jesus; dribbling ability.
Noni Madueke is one of the best forward-drivers with the ball at his feet in the Premier League. Sure, it's a niche trait and some might even argue that dribbling is a dying art, but it will come in handy.
Right now, Arsenal's struggles come against low-block defences. It's like they try so hard, and get so far, but in the end, it doesn't even matter. (Sorry, it was never a phase.)
Noni Madueke is like a fully functioning Gabriel Jesus
With Noni Madueke in the team, though, Arsenal can finally break down low blocks with something different, a player who is unpredictable and difficult to tackle.
Right now, Arsenal has that... kind of.
Gabriel Jesus is also a brilliant dribbler of the ball. The catch is that he's only good at dribbling when he's fit, which is virtually never these days.
So, not only will Madueke provide backup to Bukayo Saka on the right, but he'll wow the Arsenal crowd the same way that Gabriel Jesus does in the two games of the season he's fit.
Overall, for around the £50m mark, this is not a deal Arsenal fans can turn up their noses at. Madueke could prove those doubters wrong in the best possible way.
