Arsenal have reportedly made a "tentative enquiry", which is their first step to potentially signing Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.

For the longest time, Arsenal have been hit with the cliche "you won't win anything without a top striker." While these claims were annoying at the start and they were temporarily disproven by Kai Havertz, the case lives on today.

We are only in January and Arsenal have seemingly thrown away their title chances. Now, it is Liverpool's trophy to lose and it doesn't look like they will be halted anytime soon. So, Arsenal probably do need that striker, right?

Right. And now is the perfect time to go out and get that striker. We are in the January transfer window, not that Arsenal have made that glaringly obvious at this stage.

Whenever he's asked about transfers, Mikel Arteta finds some way to avoid the question. Perhaps this is a tactic but it remains annoying for the fans to watch him avoid the obvious squad needs.

However, moves are being made behind closed doors. If reports are to be believed, then Arsenal have made the first step to signing a dreamy striker.

Arsenal finally make the first step to signing Benjamin Sesko

According to Poppy Treadaway of talkSPORT, Arsenal have made a "tentative enquiry" about signing Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig. However, a move in the January transfer window remains complicated, with RB Leipzig unwilling to let go of their star striker easily.

Leipzig were recently eliminated from the UEFA Champions League following a poor group stage effort. Nevertheless, they remain in the race for the Bundesliga top four, competing with Frankfurt and Stuttgart for that fourth spot.

Unsurprisingly, Sesko is Leipzig's top goal-scorer in the Bundesliga, with eight goals. This is half the amount that famous North London foe Harry Kane has scored for Bayern Munich (16) but Sesko remains important to Leipzig nevertheless.

Interestingly, Kai Havertz has scored the same amount of goals as Sesko. However, Havertz has also left a lot to be desired, particularly in recent Premier League matches. There is a feeling that if Sesko had the chances Havertz has had, Arsenal might be in a better position.
