A flight tracker has shown an overly coincidental flight from Valencia to London this morning. Is Cristhian Mosquera finally bound to Arsenal?
If there's one bond which will never be broken, forget about covalent bonds, it's Arsenal fans and their flight trackers. Even when the Arsenal fanbase is scrambling for phone storage, it's one app that will simply never be deleted.
I may be showing my age here, but before the Fabrizio Romano era, fans took it upon themselves to know the exact whereabouts of transfer targets at every moment. Arsenal fans were the best at this, as Twitter (now known as X) was full of flight radars.
Well, that art form is not dead. Nope, a flight tracker was back in full force, and this time, fans are sure they know who was making the flight to London.
Arsenal fans locate Cristhian Mosquera's potential flight
In the early hours of this morning, an Arsenal fan posted to the Gunner subreddit a screenshot of a flight which was incoming from Valencia to London. The poster, and indeed many in the comments, are sure this must be Cristhian Mosquera.
As we know already, Arsenal has been given the green light to sign Mosquera, but now the only thing to do is for the defender to travel for his medical tests. Then, the transfer will be made formal and official.
Surely, then, this morning's flight from Valencia to London has to include Arsenal's new signing. Don't get it twisted, Arsenal fans are seasoned pros when it comes to flight-tracking, just ask anyone from the early 2010s.
A homage to life before Fabrizio Romano
Fabrizio Romano has very quickly become the most influential football journalist of all time. The Italian transfer guru is on the pulse of pretty much everything and he won't publish a report unless it can be taken as gospel.
So, fans are given a new medium through which to receive transfer news. Nowadays, with Romano on the case, there can very rarely be a transfer surprise.
However, seeing the flight trackers back out in full force is a nice reminder of what life was like before Fabrizio Romano. Around a decade ago, fans would be up until the early hours of the morning tracking flights, stalking social media followings, and making our own news up. While it was less reliable, it was much more fun.
So, while it's hard to prove the legitimacy of Mosquera flying on that flight, we only hope to see more of this. Speaking of, has anyone tracked flights from Lisbon recently?
