Arsenal hammered Crystal Palace 5-1 in the Premier League, and Gabriel Martinelli says the Gunners fully deserved the three points at Selhurst Park.
Mikel Arteta's Arsenal hammered Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park thanks to a brace from Gabriel Jesus and goals from Gabriel Martinelli, Kai Havertz, and Declan Rice to keep the good vibes rolling for the north London side.
With Jesus now scoring goals for fun (five in his last two), the Brazilian has now seemingly found the kind of form that has deserted him over the last 18 months.
But it wasn't just Jesus who has hit form. His fellow Brazilian in Gabriel Martinelli also found the net at Selhurst Park, albeit there was an element of luck about it.
The Gunners' attacking flow was there for all to see, and with Bukayo Saka limping off with a hamstring injury after just 24 minutes, Martinelli took over the right-hand side and looked his usually lively and electric self.
And the Brazilian says the Gunners were fully deserving of the win.
“I mean, that's our game,” Martinelli said via arsenal.com. “We trust ourselves and we know the quality that we have in the team, so it's just the way that we go and just keep on doing what we're doing. I think we deserved the win and we did really well in the game. We performed really well so we deserved the win”
Aside from Saka's injury it was a good night all-round for the Gunners, particularly for Jesus and Martinelli and with both now in that goal-scoring mood, the hope is that now in Saka's absence, they can be the ones to power Arsenal's attack.
And while Martinelli was no doubt happy to finally get on the scoresheet, he still made sure Jesus got his flowers too.
“I'm so happy for him,” Martinelli added. “Not just me, I think the whole club is really happy for him. He really deserves that. He's a guy who tries to help everyone around the club: the youngest players, the oldest, everyone. He's a guy that deserves what he's been doing. So really happy with the goals that he scored midweek and today as well. Really happy.”
With the lowly Ipswitch Town up next in the Premier League, the Gunners have a great chance to keep this momentum rolling, and while Saka's injury was a brutal gut-punch, the return to form of Arsenal's Brazilian pair was good for the soul.
