Arsenal have just broken the record for the biggest parade in the history of English football, the Metropolitan Police confirmed on Sunday.
Arsenal's brilliant Premier League campaign concluded a couple of weeks ago, with a win over Crystal Palace. The league title was already secured by then, and it was great to see the players celebrate with the trophy.
However, there was one thing that they were not able to do, which was to celebrate with the fans the way they deserved to.
As the game was at Selhurst Park, it did not quite pan out the way Arsenal fans would have wanted, especially with the Champions League final looming close.
However, all Arsenal players and fans had to do was be patient, as irrespective of what happened in the final, their Premier League trophy would be celebrated by the club with the fans the day after the final.
Obviously, all of those Arsenal fans and players would have wanted to parade two trophies instead of one, and the final loss would have made things just a little bit sadder than they would want.
Arsenal have just broken an English football record
However, Arsenal fans were still very happy, and so were the players, as this was a huge achievement, and there was a huge crowd there to celebrate it. An estimate of 1.5 million people celebrated the trophy alongside the team, which became the largest trophy parade in history of English football.
If you think about it, that is an absolutely mind-boggling number. 1.5 million people celebrating alongside the team bus is something that you literally never see happening in a city that is as busy as London.
However, it happened, and it shows just how much the title means to the players, the coaches but especially the fans.
They have waited for more than 20 years for this moment, and it was obvious that they would make every single moment count in that parade.
It is not just the wait. It is also how agonizingly close they came to winning the trophy two years ago, and even three years ago. It is genuinely a monumental moment in the club's history, and this was clearly the only right way to celebrate such a massive feat.
Obviously, Arsenal will not stop there. The pain from the Champions League loss will linger on for a few more days. And soon, that will be used as extra motivation to right this year's wrongs next season.
