Arsenal are considering hiring Luis Campos of Paris Saint-Germain to replace Edu Gaspar. However, Man United are now interested in the same name.
Arsenal are still on the hunt for a sporting director to replace Edu Gaspar, after it was announced last month that the Brazilian club legend would part ways with Arsenal.
Edu Gaspar has had quite the Arsenal journey. As a player, he was an Arsenal Invincible - It goes without saying that this was always going to win him brownie points in North London.
When he came back to the club as a director, he arguably had a greater impact on the club and its fans. He gave them a reason to believe again, so much so that Arsenal even gifted him with new roles, becoming the first sporting director in Arsenal's history.
He was the first... But now he won't be the last.
Arsenal will lock horns with Man United to replace Edu Gaspar
According to a report from i News, Man United are now interested in hiring Luis Campos, the Paris Saint-Germain adviser, to replace Dan Ashworth.
It was revealed at the weekend that Ashworth would leave Man United, after only a few months in the role. Now, the Red Devils want to hire Campos as his replacement.
However, there is a roadblock there. Luis Campos is one of the candidates Arsenal are considering to replace Edu Gaspar. Campos has great experience of helping to run football clubs.
At Monaco, Campos is remembered for bringing in huge names such as James Rodriguez and Bernardo Silva. At Paris Saint-Germain, Campos is known for revamping PSG's spending strategy - Now, the Parisians are not as frivolous spenders as they once were but instead they are more strategic in developing young players.
Both of Campos' abilities to locate huge talented names and develop young players would serve him well at Arsenal. It was part of Edu Gaspar's strategy to sign young players for a cheap price tag (the main example being Gabriel Martinelli), after all.
