Arsenal made contact with Eberechi Eze's camp over the weekend regarding a potential transfer, according to Fabrizio Romano.
News of the Gunners' interest in the player emerged last week when it was revealed they could look to hijack Tottenham's hopeful move for him this summer. Spurs remain keen on signing Eze, but Arsenal have made contact and are informed on the conditions of a potential deal.
Any move would still be very much in the early stages, but for Mikel Arteta's side to have made contact with Eze means they hold genuine interest in securing a transfer.

Arsenal previously held an interest in Eze last year, but no move ever materialised, but it would appear that they do really want to bring him to the Emirates this time round.
As a fan, it's hard to argue with the potential signing of the Crystal Palace star. He is a very talented player and since first joining the Eagles in 2020, he has developed into one of the Premier League's most underrated stars.
To see him walk out at the Emirates would simply be great, even if there are potentially better or equal options such as Rodrygo also available on the market. His versatility would offer plenty to a Gunners side in desperate need of more depth and quality.
It's pretty clear that nothing is concrete yet and Eze is very much still a Palace player at this point of the transfer window. However, for Arsenal to have made initial contacts with his representatives is a very positive sign. It shows they are interested in striking a deal and one can only hope that is reciprocated on Eze's side.
The Gunners now know what it would take to sign Eze and they can take that away with them as they assess him and other options as they look to add another winger to the squad. Regardless, this is a great start to any potential move.
