Arsenal moved into second in the league with a 1-0 win over Ipswich Town, much to the delight of Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal took full advantage of the slip-up by Chelsea with a 1-0 win over Ipswich Town to move into second in the Premier League, and Mikel Arteta was delighted with the win.

At this stage of the season when games are coming thick and fast, style points could for little, with positive results the only item on the menu for the Gunners.

Kai Havertz scored the lone goal after 23 minutes, capping off total domination from the hosts early on. Several other chances went begging, with Gabriel Jesus being offside in scoring from the tightest of angles, and Gabriel's header from point-blank range that just went wide.

But the Gunners held firm, not allowing Ipswich a sniff of goal, and while the 1-0 scoreline gives the impression that the visitors might have stretched the Gunners in chasing an equalizer, in truth, Arsenal kept Ipswich at arm's length for the game's entirety and didn't break a sweat doing it.

Such was the manner in which the Gunners claimed three points, manager Mikel Arteta was left feeling very content with his side's performance, despite only scoring one goal.

"I'm very happy with the victory, with the clean sheet, and with big parts of the game," Arteta said via arsenal.com. "It's a really difficult opposition. We're playing so many games. You see that teams are winning for very small margins. We could have done the margins much bigger. At the end we didn't. But we held our nerves in the last few minutes, you know, to defend well in the areas that we had to do, and I'm very, very happy."

The win keeps the positive momentum rolling, with the Gunners next in action in a few days away to Brentford before another tricky assignment away to Brighton. But while the win was good for the soul as it keeps Arsenal's title hopes intact, Arteta's post-game comments regarding Bukayo Saka are nightmare fuel.

The winger had surgery on his hamstring, and will be out for at least eight weeks, and while Gabriel Martinelli showed glimpses of a threat occupying Saka's flank against Ipswich, the Gunners might need to dip into the transfer market to help cover Bukayo's loss.

Overall, a win was achieved, and that's all fans can ask for at this time of year, as the Gunners have seemingly steadied the ship after a rough few weeks. So, it's no wonder Arteta is happy with the win.
