Arsenal seriously improved the squad in the summer transfer window. At face value, it might not have looked like a masterstroke transfer window with the names added, but now we're well into the season, Arsenal fans can appreciate how strategic the additions were.

Martin Zubimendi has been a complete breath of fresh air in the midfield. There isn't much the Spanish international cannot do, and he has improved both the playmaking abilities in midfield, as well as the defensive organization alongside Declan Rice.

As great as Martin Zubimendi has been, even scoring a completely unexpected brace at the weekend, Arsenal fans are paying more attention to one other signing from Spain who has moved the needle slightly more than Zubimendi.

Cristhian Mosquera is one of the best players in the Arsenal squad right now. Both in the Premier League and the Champions League, the new center back has been a solid addition for the Gunners.

With a mixture of William Saliba composure and Gabriel Magalhaes aggression, Mosquera can perform both roles at the flick of a switch. He's also proven that he is more than comfortable in one-on-one defensive situations, with Arsenal fans feeling reassured whenever he's in such positions.

And look, nobody expected Mosquera to have the impact he's had at the start of this season. When he was signed, he was expected to be a rotational player, only playing when injuries, suspensions or fatigue impacted the squad.

Mosquera was given a shot in the Arsenal team due to William Saliba's injury. However, he's taken that opportunity and run with it.

With William Saliba back in contention, Mikel Arteta now has a selection headache. Does he go with the experience of Saliba, or does he continue to trust Mosquera?

Either way, it won't be a fair decision for whichever player is left out. Neither defender has done anything to justify being on the bench.

But this is exactly what makes Cristhian Mosquera the player who has improved Arsenal the most. In the past, you would've been judged hard for saying anyone can displace William Saliba. Mosquera is now making that a legitimate question.

As the season goes on, fans want to see more of Mosquera. He's made a statement now, and he won't go back to simply rotting away on the bench. His Arsenal journey is bound to get harder with Saliba's return, but Arsenal now has three excellent options at center back, four if Piero Hincapié kicks on.
