Arsenal is all in on Viktor Gyokeres, but one analyst thinks another striker is a better option.

Mikel Arteta's Arsenal side is reportedly close to getting a deal for Sporting star Viktor Gyokeres over the line, with the Gunners in advanced talks with the clinical striker.

But should they be?

For the best part of 18 months, it has been either RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko or Gyokeres as the two main targets for the club, and in truth, both would suffice, or at least for most of the fan base they would.

But now, the club is being urged to put the plans for Viktor and Benjamin on the back burner and go after a striker the club was into years ago, and it is one that to me, doesn't make too much sense.

Gunners urged to alter striker plans

As a fanbase, we are suckers for punishment with deals for big players taking time, but also being linked with every player on the planet. Why do I bring this up? Glad you asked.

Remember Victor Osimhen?

The Napoli striker who was hot property just a few years ago with the Gunners reportedly interested in his services, but alas nothing happened, and he has since moved to Turkish side Galatasaray, where he has continued banging in the goals.

GOAL.com's Krishan Davis thinks it should be a "no-brainer" for the Gunners to pursue Osimhen with his release clause expiring in a matter of days.

Hmm ok.

Granted, the idea isn't completely from left field, but with Andrea Berta already deep into conversations with Gyokeres, it would make little sense for the club to ditch those deals and go after Osimhen, especially with Arteta wanting a swift deal to the striker can be a part of preseason in a few weeks.

It would set the club back to begin new negotiations with another player when talks for Gyokeres are at an advanced stage. So it is too little too late.

The Gunners only have eyes for one striker now with Sesko seemingly doing all he could to make things difficult, where as Viktor has made things easy.

So, yeah, we're fine with Viktor, thanks.
