Arsenal have certainly not looked back on their decision to sign Noni Madueke and their purchase of the winger from Chelsea is the gift that keeps on giving.

Madueke starred as he came off the bench to help the Gunners to a monumental 3-1 win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday night, scoring his first goal for the club to restore his side's lead and set them on their way to victory.

Despite the initial criticism surrounding his switch from west to north London, he has proven many doubters wrong and it's making Arsenal's decision to bring him to the club look like an incredibly smart move.

When news of Arsenal's genuine interest in signing Madueke from Chelsea first broke, the majority of fans were outraged. As the move progressed and a deal was confirmed, supporters continued to doubt the transfer and were confused by the desire to sign another right winger so similar to Bukayo Saka.

He had also received plenty of criticism from fans of his former club with many taking the opportunity to laugh at the move and label it a poor deal for their rivals.

Arriving at the Emirates Stadium, Madueke knew he had to prove himself in a Gunners shirt to win over his new side's fans and he was handed the chance to do so a lot sooner than many expected.

After Saka suffered an injury in a 5-0 win over Leeds United in just the second game of the season, the spot on the right wing opened up for his England teammate to come in and show what he could bring to the club.

He immediately impressed, putting in positive performances against Liverpool, Nottingham Forest, Athletic Bilbao and Manchester City while also extending his form into international duty to score his first goal for his country.

His run of form was halted though when he picked up a knee injury against City, ruling him out of action until he made his return in Sunday's 4-1 win over Tottenham.

Having helped make the difference when he came off the bench against Bayern, he showed just how useful of an option he can be. He is a solid squad member who is versatile and capable of starting on either flank and he will offer Arsenal plenty as the season goes on.

After facing mockery from his former club's fans and his new side's supporters, he has proven both sets wrong and it's laughable that he could end up being a crucial part of the Gunners' road to silverware this season. Madueke coming to Arsenal was a risky move, but it has paid off and there is no doubting that the north London side came off far better in the deal.

The Gunners certainly aren't looking back and regretting the signing of Madueke and robbing him from Chelsea is the gift that keeps on giving, and it will only continue to do so if they go on to win trophies this campaign.
