Arsenal's asking price for Ethan Nwaneri might be a bit too low

Arsenal have reportedly set a fee of £50 million if anyone wants to buy starlet Ethan Nwaneri this summer transfer window.

This is according to The Times, who claim that Arsenal would want a significant fee if they are to part ways with the midfielder.

£50 million is a very low asking price for Nwaneri, considering what the other teams have been paying for worse players this summer. Nwaneri, despite having a bit of a down year, is definitely worth more than that. We are talking about a player who has scored nine goals and provided two assists in the one season where he got regular game time.

And, did we mention that the Englishman is just 19 years old? For a player to already have a good season in the Premier League before turning 20 is huge, and it is important to keep that in mind despite his recent struggles.

Nwaneri could leave Arsenal, but not because he isn't a huge talent

Obviously, Nwaneri isn't really in the running to be an important player for Arsenal because he hasn't played for the club in a while. He was warming the bench to start last season and did not really get that much playing time, managing just one goal contribution during his time there.

He then moved to Marseille on loan until the end of the season, where he started really well under Roberto De Zerbi, who is now the manager of Tottenham. But after De Zerbi's exit, the minutes that he wanted to get weren't there anymore.

Now Nwaneri has come back to Arsenal, and it seems like he will be sold because of the emergence of players like Max Dowman and Arsenal signing Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke in the positions where Nwaneri used to play for the club.

Obviously, these players came last season, but their roles became more and more prominent as the year went on. Now it seems Nwaneri is farther away from nailing down a spot in the first team than he ever has been in the past.

He is still ridiculously talented, and if he's able to get a starting spot at any top club in the world, or any club in the world for that matter, he will be decisive. He will improve as a football player and improve the players around him as well.

There are no suitable proposals for the youngster at the moment, but whoever wants to sign the English starlet would have to pay a good amount of money to secure his services.

If he works out for any club in Europe, Arsenal will obviously regret not keeping him around. But as is the case with youngsters, it doesn't matter how good or talented you are if the timing of you being at the club is not perfect.

In that case, the only option left, because of this really unfortunate timing, is for the player to leave. It looks like Nwaneri is going to be doing exactly that if an offer comes through. The only thing is that it better be good money.
