Napoli are interested in Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus, according to GE Globo and Fabrizio Romano.
According to Romano, Arsenal would only entertain a move that avoids a permanent transfer, and GE Globo reports that the fee Arsenal would want for the Brazilian striker would be at least ÂŁ20 million.
Jesus is a player who, although he has a lot of talent, has never been able to show it at Arsenal, for one reason or another.
He has constantly been plagued by injuries, which have stunted his development as a striker and stopped him from having an important role at the club.
He was signed in the 2022–23 season with the hope of being the club’s most important striker, but it just did not work out the way any party would have wanted.
After that, Arsenal signed strikers like Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres, and ultimately, Jesus became a third-choice striker who rarely played 90 minutes, even when he was fit, which was very limited.
A move to Napoli would do Gabriel Jesus a world of good
There have been a few moments of brilliance from the Brazilian, but it is widely considered that a move away from the club is the best possibility for all parties involved this summer.
And it is a shame, really, because everyone knows the talent that Jesus has, especially from his time at Manchester City.
But now, he is past his prime, even though at this point, he should be in the best years of his career. He is not the same physically as he used to be a few years ago, and a move to Napoli could actually help him regain some confidence and improve as a player.
A player of his calibre should still stay in Europe. There have been reports of clubs in the Middle East being interested in signing the striker, but this move would be much better for him than any of those.
Even though they would offer more money, a move to Napoli would give Jesus the opportunity to still play in Europe and compete at the highest level in Italy.
Jesus is only 29 years old, and if he gets continuity and stays away from fitness issues, he can really have a good time in Italy.
What will happen remains to be seen, but as long as it is a permanent transfer instead of a loan move, Arsenal will absolutely not stand in the way of Jesus leaving this summer transfer window.
