Arsenal are set to accelerate club-to-club talks for Christos Tzolis after being given the green light by the player, according to Ben Jacobs.
The Greece international is reported to have told the Gunners he wants to join amid links to the club and that has prompted Mikel Arteta's side to move forward in discussions with Club Brugge.
Transfer business in the red half of North London has been relatively quiet in the opening month of the window, but Arsenal speeding up the process of a potential move for Tzolis could be a statement of their intent.

The Gunners were first linked with Tzolis just over a month ago when multiple reports revealed they were exploring a possible move to sign the forward from the Belgian Pro League champions.
Arsenal were heavily reported to be keen to sign a left winger this summer and that desire will have intensified even further after Leandro Trossard's move to Beşiktaş was confirmed on Tuesday afternoon.
It appears that Tzolis has been identified as the replacement for his Belgian counterpart and he has already shown his desire to play for the Premier League champions after informing Arteta's side that he wants to join them.
Club Brugge are willing to sell the Greek this summer with a deal in the region of £30million to £35m expected to be enough for his services, dependent on the structure.
Tzolis has been a crucial player for Brugge since joining ahead of the 2024/25 season. He has scored 43 goals and provided 45 assists in 108 appearances for the 20-time Belgian champions.
The Greece international also has previous Premier League experience, having played 14 times in the top flight for Norwich City in the 2021/22 campaign. His time in East Anglia was far from impactful though as he scored just three goals in 30 games for the Canaries.
He has expressed an interest in returning to England. When asked by Belgian outlet Nieuwsblad what club could tempt him away from Club Brugge in May, he said: “It will have to be a Champions League team from England, Germany, Spain, or Italy. Or well, if PSG comes knocking, I’ll probably go too, right? (laughs) Then I’ll say I love France. But only PSG is a better option in France than Club Brugge. There might be a few more possibilities in the Premier League.”
While it does seem Tzolis is the expected replacement for the departing Trossard, Jacobs corroborated the previous reports that the pursuit of the Greek will not have an impact on Arsenal's ambitious attempts to sign Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa.
