Arsenal couldn't have had a better start to the Premier League. Four wins from four, including victories against the likes of Chelsea and Aston Villa, it's fair to say the title defence is looking strong.
After their 2-0 win against Sunderland, Arsenal remain strong title favourites, but they won't be without their challengers. Manchester City have also had a perfect start to the season under new boss Enzo Maresca. Liverpool and Chelsea could also cause the Gunners some issues, both with new managers this season.
Arsenal and Man City predicted to dominate the Premier League title race
Based on the evidence so far, any prediction which suggests a title fight between Arsenal and Man City comes as no surprise. However, the Opta Supercomputer predicts that both teams will run far ahead of their rivals.
The latest supercomputer simulation has Arsenal winning the title on a total of 79.64 points. It then has Manchester City in second place with 74.93 points. But after that, there is a huge drop-off. It expects Liverpool to finish third and Chelsea to finish fourth, but, on points tallies of 59.77 and 57.85, respectively.
Arsenal and Man City's dominance is evident in the title chances too. The Gunners have a 56.89% chance of defending their title according to the simulation, and Man City have a 32.22% chance of winning. After that, Liverpool are the next most-likely side at 3.05%.
It feels dramatic and an overreaction to call the title race after four games, but it seems we already have a two-horse race in the Premier League between Arteta and his new foe Maresca. It's going to be more of the same for the Arsenal boss, who has spent most of his managerial career battling with the Cityzens.
Arsenal could run away from City
Despite the even start, there's every chance the Gunners could run away from their rivals. Arsenal's defence has already proven to be elite, conceding just one goal in their opening four matches.
But it's not even at full strength yet, as we still haven't seen William Saliba, who is still recovering from a lower back injury. He's forecast to return in November as things stand, and that could be the catalyst for Arsenal to separate themselves from City.
Considering how good the defence has looked without Saliba, imagine how unstoppable it'll be when he returns; that could be the difference between Arsenal and their Manchester rivals.
