Arsenal exited the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon as they succumbed to a penalty shootout defeat following a 1-1 draw with Manchester United.

After a level first half, Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring for the visitors with a good finish into the far corner. United couldn't take capitalise on this advantage however as they were reduced to ten men minutes later when Diogo Dalot was sent off for a second yellow card offence. The Gunners hit back instantly, equalising through Gabriel Magalhaes following the free kick.

Mikel Arteta's side couldn't grab a second, with Martin Odegaard being denied from the penalty spot to take the game to extra-time. With the match going all the way, there were more woes from 12 yards for Arsenal as five perfect penalties from United and a Kai Havertz miss saw them crash out.

Despite a mixed showing from the Gunners, there were three standout performers in their FA Cup exit to Man United.

1. Gabriel Martinelli

Starting on the left wing, Gabriel Martinelli impressed for Arsenal against Manchester United. He scored in the first half with a good striker's finish but had his effort ruled out after he had drifted offside.

He caused plenty of trouble for the United defence, making a number of marauding runs up and down the touchline. Martinelli linked up well with his teammates, completing 22 out of 25 attempted passes, and also drew a number of fouls.

In the build-up to Arsenal's equaliser, Martinelli got the better of Alejandro Garnacho before swinging in a cross that was not dealt with by Altay Bayındır and his defenders before landing for Gabriel Magalhaes to volley in. It was a standout performance from Martinelli, who showed how much of a problem he can be for opponents to deal with.
