Arsenal transfer news: €80m winger shortlisted with Martinelli in bad form
By Kian Long
In today's Arsenal transfer news - Arsenal are linked to a €80m winger, who is also being eyed by Premier League rivals Liverpool and Man United.
It feels like a broken record, but where has the time gone? Yes, we are well into the last month of 2024 and the festivities are about to begin, if they haven't already.
For Arsenal, the festive period has become synonymous with bad results. While this might've changed slightly in recent seasons, fans were treated (eye-roll) to a blast from the past at the weekend, drawing 1-1 at Craven Cottage.
Now, Arsenal fans are already looking ahead to the January transfer window.
Arsenal transfer news: €80m winger shortlisted with Martinelli in bad form
According to a report from Caught Offside, Arsenal are one of the Premier League clubs interested in signing Kenan Yildiz. It is believed that Premier League scouts were in attendance to watch the Juventus winger in action - Alongside Arsenal, Aston Villa, Borrussia Dortmund, Liverpool and Man United are all interested in signing Yildiz.
Unsurprisingly, Juventus would not like to sell Yildiz. However, given their financial difficulties in recent seasons, there is a price which the Old Lady would not refuse. Rumour has it, €80m (£66.2m) could make Juventus budge.
It is not a coincidence that Arsenal are targetting a left-sided winger. This the position which, frankly, Arsenal lack the most. They have two options - Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli - However, neither is showing the consistent quality needed to be a starter week in, week out.
In truth, Gabriel Martinelli has been out of form for the last season and change. He was subpar last season and he hasn't done anything to rectify this form this campaign.
Leandro Trossard is a brilliant substitute. However, frustratingly, his capabilities end here. The Belgian is superb against tired legs but his performances appear to lack when he's given a spot in the starting lineup, proven yet again at the weekend against Fulham.
At this stage, though, the interest in Kenan Yildiz is simply that; interest. Arsenal are yet to make any concrete moves regading Yildiz and they are simply monitoring him at this stage.
