Gabriel Jesus' ACL injury is a hammer blow for Arsenal, but Mikel Arteta says the Gunners are looking at Transfer targets.

Arsenal has gotten another dose of rotten luck with confirmation that Gabriel Jesus suffered a torn ACL, ruling him out for the rest of the season.

With the Gunners already struggling in front of goal with the Brazilian, now the attack options look thin with Jesus and Bukayo Saka on the sidelines.

This has heaped pressure on Arteta and the club to dip into the transfer market and get the squad some reinforcements before it's too late.

Thanks to Liverpool's draw with Nottingham Forest, the Gunners can close the gap at the summit to four points, meaning the title isn't completely out of reach.

But for a sustained challenge that goes right to the end, Arsenal need more firepower and given that Jesus is lost for the season, coupled with Kai Havertz's shocker in front of goal in the 2-0 loss to Manchester United, will Arsenal spend in January?

"My answer doesn't change, it remains the same - we are actively looking in the market to improve the squad, and that’s been the same since day one," Arteta said via arsenal.com. "It would be naive not to do that because it is always an opportunity to evolve the team and improve the squad, especially with the circumstances. So yes, we are looking and we are trying and let's see what we are able to do."

With January half over, the Gunners must act to bring in a player or players that can help steer this ship in the right direction, and with the glaring issues in attack, one can safely say that a striker would fit the bill.

Dusan Vlahovic has been reported as a potential target, albeit on loan to help ease the offensive burden and tuck away the numerous chances that Arsenal create.

But is a striker currently on the list of needs for the Gunners?

"We have to believe that if we bring someone in, it has to make us better," Arteta added.

One could make the case that any form of respectable striker would make the Gunners attack better, and while Kia Havertz can be commended for his efforts so far (United game aside), getting a proper forward would be music to the ears of Arsenal fans.

We aren't sure if the Gunners will do it, but its what's required if this season to is have anything substantial riding on it in the coming months.
