A primary Arsenal transfer target from the summer is still yet to sign a new contract. Should Mikel Arteta keep him in mind for future windows?

Throughout the summer transfer window, there were many names thrown around who Arsenal didn't end up signing. This is to be expected, as it is only Arsenal who knows which players will be signed.

Alexander Isak was one of those players linked to Arsenal in the summer. It was believed they would try to sign a striker, with Alexander Isak being one of the leading candidates for this position.

The Newcastle United striker ultimately stayed in the North of England. Arsenal did not sign a new striker and instead, they have continued to use Kai Havertz in this position.

According to talkSPORT, Arsenal are still on alert about potentially signing Alexander Isak. No concrete moves have been made, but they are keeping an eye on Isak, who still hasn't signed a new contract at Newcastle.

Currently, Alexander Isak is under contract until 2028. So, Newcastle are truly in no position to rush selling him. After all, he is one of the Magpies' best players and losing him would be detrimental.

Despite Isak's long-standing contract, talkSPORT claims that the Swedish striker would like to become a higher earner at Newcastle. He would also like a release clause included in a new contract.

However, Newcastle and Isak have not yet reached a compromise over a new contract. This is despite several months of attempts.

Arsenal are coping rather well without a recognised goal-scorer. Kai Havertz plays through the middle of the attack and it would be an understatement to say he does a good job there.

However, Mikel Arteta is always looking to improve his squad. As a footballing expert, it's no surprise to see him interested in Alexander Isak. Isak is one of the most well-rounded players in the world, after all.

Under Mikel Arteta, Arsenal has become the type of club who won't give up on what they want. So, it is certainly a possibility that Arsenal pursue Alexander Isak again in the future.
