Arsenal are still on the hunt for attacking reinforcements in the January transfer window, and they remain one of several clubs interested in Wolves' Matheus Cunha.

The Brazilian is a key cog in Vitor Pereia's relegation-threatened outfit, recording 14 Premier League goal contributions in 21 games. It appeared as if Cunha was on the brink of extending his stay at Molineux earlier this month, but his situation in the West Midlands has evolved in recent weeks.

With potential buyers emerging from across the Premier League, it seems as if Cunha's head has been turned. Fabrizio Romano describes Cunha's situation as "one to watch" heading into the final week of the window, with the forward yet to put pen to paper on a new deal.

Mikel Arteta is well aware of the need for late additions this month, and Cunha was a player noted as a potential target heading into the window.

Cunha added fuel to the fire following a rather disgruntled showing at Stamford Bridge on Monday night. While the Brazilian came out and vehemently denied a report that he headed straight down the tunnel after the final whistle, he didn't seem particularly happy as Chelsea coasted to a 3-1 win.

The former Atletico Madrid man has lit up the division since arriving on English shores two winters ago, and it's no surprise that multiple Premier League clubs have taken an interest. While I have my concerns over Cunha's tactical fit in Arteta's framework, I also see the appeal. He's a wonderful footballer, and Arsenal could utilise the Brazilian as a reference point between the lines to support Martin Odegaard.

The Cunha trail had run cold in recent weeks with attentions turning to Benjamin Sesko, but it seems as if the Brazilian is all the rage again. According to Wolves podcaster Ryan Leister, Cunha is now "more likely" to leave Wolves than stay this month.

There have also been several reports suggesting that Arsenal have already agreed personal terms with the Brazilian, but that was never likely to be a stumbling block anyway. The fear is that the Gunners are priced out of a move. While Cunha may be keen to leave, Wolves won't want to let their main man depart for anything less than a premium fee midway through the season.

Ben Jacobs believes Wolves would demand in excess of £80m for Cunha. Now that's a lot of money. Too much.

Arsenal won't be matching that asking price this month, nor should the likes of Nottingham Forest, Newcastle and Chelsea.
