Arsenal face Aston Villa in a surprising top-of-the-table clash on Tuesday night, and the Gunners will have to be at their absolute best to win against a team who have triumphed in their last 11 games.

Villa actually beat Arsenal a few weeks ago, so there will probably be a revenge plan in place by Mikel Arteta for the game at the Emirates on Tuesday night, and it will be interesting to see how it is handled differently.

Arsenal are facing a lot of injuries at the minute, with many, many players either being doubts, or confirmed to be missing out due to injury, including Declan Rice's very recent news. Still, Arsenal are expected to roll out a strong lineup to go up against the Birmingham outfit.

Arsenal vs Aston Villa: Predicted XI for top of the table clash

GK David Raya

Raya is one of the best goalkeepers in England right now. He made a match-winning save against Brighton just a few days ago, and unless something completely unexpected happens with his fitness, he is expected to start the game on Tuesday.

RB Christian Norgaard

Arsenal have no right-backs available. Their right-back in the last game was none other than Declan Rice, who has recently been confirmed as injured. So, there is no other option but to start one of their more reliable and versatile players there. Norgaard has never played there - he has only featured in the midfield or at centre-back - but this feels like a good opportunity to play a reliable player at right-back in an important game. Timber might be back, but if Arteta does not want to risk him, then Norgaard might be the chosen one.

CB William Saliba

Saliba has been great this season, and with so many absentees looming around Arteta's head already, it is expected that the French central defender will start. No brainer.

CB Gabriel Magalhaes

Gabriel returned to the pitch for the first time in months against Brighton. He immediately looked really good, and with so many players missing from the team, the Brazilian might start to give Arsenal that much-needed reassurance in defense.

LB Piero Hincapie

Riccardo Calafiori was injured just before the game against Brighton, which made Arteta start the young Englishman in defense. If Gabriel returns, the Spanish manager will probably put Hincapie at left-back.

DM Martin Zubimendi

One of Arsenal's best players this season, Zubimendi will have to start against that talented Villa midfield to give Arsenal that much-needed calmness and control in the middle of the park. The Spaniard, once again, will be crucial.

CM Martin Odegaard

Odegaard finally scored at the Emirates to win Arsenal the game against Brighton, and he will be very important to create danger from the middle of the park. The captain will have to bring his A-game against Villa on Tuesday.

CM Mikel Merino

Now that Arsenal have not one, not two, but potentially three strikers back, Merino will see an uptick in midfield minutes. He started in the game against Brighton, and it will probably be the same on Tuesday night.

RW Bukayo Saka

Bukayo Saka will play. A no-brainer.

CF Viktor Gyokeres

Arsenal need a lot from their number nine at the minute, but he will still start the game on Tuesday. The simple fact is that he attracts a lot of bodies towards him, resulting in space for his teammates in the box to thrive on. Once the goals are sorted, the attack will look much stronger. Gyokeres would hope that happens tonight.

LW Leandro Trossard

Trossard has nailed down the left-wing spot at Arsenal as of late, scoring and assisting many crucial goals from that position. Expect him to keep his place there.
