Arsenal return to home action on Wednesday as they continue their pre-season campaign against Villarreal at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners are back in north London after completing a three-game tour of Asia. Victories over AC Milan and Newcastle kickstarted the campaign, but Mikel Arteta's side fell to defeat at the hands of north London rivals Tottenham to conclude their time in the continent.

Villarreal are currently winless in pre-season, drawing three and losing one. In their last outing, the Yellow Submarine held newly promoted Premier League side Leeds to a 1-1 draw at Elland Road.

Marcelino's side will be looking to get a first win of their season preparations under their belt while Arsenal will be eager to bounce back following their slip-up against Spurs.

Here's our preview of Arsenal's pre-season matchup with La Liga side Villarreal at the Emirates.

Arsenal vs Villarreal score prediction

While Villarreal will be looking for their first win of pre-season and are likely to provide a tough test, Arsenal should be winning this tie with ease.

The Gunners have a far superior squad in terms of ability and should be eager to bounce back from the blip they suffered against Spurs. With the beginning of the Premier League season drawing closer, Arteta is likely to be willing to field a stronger side similar to the one that will play throughout the upcoming campaign.

This should be a straightforward game for Arsenal and despite Villarreal being likely to cause a few problems, they should secure a dominant win at the Emirates.

Prediction: Arsenal 3-0 Villarreal
