Arsenal face West Ham at the Emirates, and who will lead the Gunners' attack is a fascinating question.

Arsenal will take on West Ham with the chance to close the gap on league leaders Liverpool to just five points after Arne Slot's team had to settle for a 2-2 draw at Aston Villa.

It is now imperative that the Gunners put a Hammers side to the sword who will reportedly be missing a host of key players for the trip to north London. We have seen this season on many occasions that when Liverpool stumble, Arsenal doesn't take advantage of it - it must do so now.

With only 13 league games left, the Gunners are fast running out of time to reel in the league leaders, and against West Ham, they have a great chance to apply just a bit of pressure on Slot's team.

But that brings us to the question of who will lead the line for the Gunners if they are to pick up a crucial three points?

Against Leicester City, it was Raheem Sterling and Leandro Trossard were tasked with taking on the responsibility of leading the Arsenal attack, and both were shown a clean set of heels by young Ethan Nwaneri, who was the clear standout, especially in the first half.

While Trossard did provide an assist for Mikel Merino's second goal, he didn't have the impact Mikel Arteta wanted, and as for Sterling, well, the less said the better.

So, is it between Sterling, Trossard and Merino? And if so, who should Arteta go with?

Will the Spaniard again go with Sterling and opt to give the veteran a run of games to get his rhythm back and gain some confidence? Or will he go with the hot hand of Merino?

Based off last week, we have to say that Merino might get the call up, and he does offer certain Marouane Fellaini characteristics, and Mikel's two finishes against the Foxes were impressive.

His header was powered home with authority and his second, after getting on the end of Trossard's cross was cool slotted home with confidence, so the midfielder may be tasked with leading the line from the outset.

It looms as a big decision for Arteta, especially with Liverpool dropping points and the chance to close the gap can't be wasted. But who gives Arsenal the best chance at beating West Ham?

It might just be Merino.
