Arsenal could be willing to let Leandro Trossard leave the club this summer, according to a report by Gary Jacob of the Times.

The Gunners had previously been in talks over a potential new deal for the Belgian, but those discussions were rumoured to have stalled. As a result, he has attracted interest from Fenerbahce, who are rumoured to have agreed a three-year deal with Trossard.

Fabrizio Romano recently shut down rumours of any talks between Arsenal and the Turkish side, stating that no concrete talks are ongoing with Fenerbahce yet to make any sort of offer or approach for the winger.

Regardless of any contrasting reports, Fenerbahce do seem to hold an interest in signing Trossard and the Gunners are said to be happy to let him leave for an expected fee of around £20million.

Arsenal signed Trossard from Brighton in January 2023 for a reported fee of £20m with £7m in add-ons, and he has proven to be a reliable player since joining.

He has scored 28 goals and provided 23 assists in 124 appearances across all competitions for the Gunners and was particularly impressive during the 2023/24 season. The Belgian netted 12 times in the Premier League and was a key component as his side took Manchester City right to the wire in the title race. His consistency, particularly when coming off the bench, saw him labelled as a 'clutch player' by his side's supporters.

However, his ability faded slightly last season and that led to some fans willing to consider selling him on this summer. Trossard looked at his best at times throughout the season, but he ended the campaign with just 10 goals and 10 assists in 56 appearances.

While he can still be a more than useful part of Mikel Arteta's side, Arsenal's willingness to let him leave this summer may be a smart decision. As he ages another year, his ability is likely to decrease more next season.

Now would be the best time this summer and a potential income of £20m would help the Gunners' continue their squad-strengthening delve into the market. They have recently agreed a £52m deal to sign Noni Madueke from Chelsea and with moves for Viktor Gyokeres, Cristhian Mosquera and Eberechi Eze still on the horizon, Arsenal are going to have to recuperate some funds.

Out of himself and Gabriel Martinelli, Trossard seems the best option to sell on now. Despite some inconsistency in recent seasons, the Brazilian is yet to reach his full potential while his Belgian counterpart is arguably past his best years.

Seeing Trossard leave Arsenal will hurt, but it would be the right call to make. The fee he could bring in will help transfer plans and ease any potential overcrowding in the wide areas. The Gunners' willingness to let him leave this summer is the correct stance.
