Although Arsenal have done some great business already this summer, Mikel Arteta has made it clear that he is not happy with the size of his squad heading into the new season.

It's an important one for Arteta and Andrea Berta. What business they have managed to pull off so far has been negated by other clubs beginning to make their transfer moves.

Liverpool have got Hugo Ekitike over the line quickly and Manchester United have signed both Matheus Cunha and Brian Mbuemo. It's no surprise therefore that Arteta is looking at both the depth and the quality of his squad.

Arteta is concerned about the quality and depth of his squad

So far, the summer transfer window has gone well for the Gunners. Kepa Arrizibalaga was the first to arrive from Chelsea and is a much needed backup for David Raya. Christian Norgaard's arrival from Brentford was perhaps a lower profile signing but may yet prove to be inspired.

Martin Zubimendi's arrival has been widely regarded as Arsenal's best signing of the summer whilst Noni Madueke's arrival has torn the fanbase apart.

Young Spanish defender, Christhian Mosquera is waiting in the wings to be announced, amidst unsubstantiated rumours of failing a medical. When he does finally get announced, he will add depth to a defense that was literally crippled by injuries at the tail end of the last campaign.

In Singapore, Arteta told reporters that “There’s still a long time in the window and we are seeking still.”

Those areas must surely be the left side of attack and centre-forward. With the Viktor Gyokeres saga apparently reaching a conclusion, Arsenal have finally got that area covered.

The signing of Eberechi Eze is an imperative

The signing of Eberechi Eze is now an imperative for the Arsenal. It's no exageration to say that Mikel Arteta's job probably rests on that signing alone. Eze takes the attacking options at Arteta's disposal to another level. And that's where he says that he wants to be.

"I think everybody feels that the heights have to go to a different level and it’s what we are seeking,” Arteta told reporters.

If a left-sided player (praying it's Rodrygo) could be conjured out of Andrea Berta's sorting hat that would do very nicely too. But it's still not enough.

Arsenal lack cover in the full-back area and this must be addressed quickly. At the moment, Arsenal are a squad that are two or three injuries away from being one that would struggle to get into the top six!
