Bukayo Saka has benefited from Arsenal's summer overhaul as there is less pressure on the Gunners' star man to be a guiding light in pursuit of the Premier League title. The onus has been put on the English winger to come to the fore and be the difference maker in each of the past three seasons.
It's easy to forget that Saka is just 24 years old and has yet to reach his peak despite the incredible consistency he's shown season after season. But trophies have evaded the Hale End academy talent who debuted at the age of 17 back in November 2018.
Saka is one of the most highly-regarded attacking talents in Europe, which is why it's important the club sorts out his future. After William Saliba and David Raya penned new deals, it seems as though their English teammate is close to extending his stay at the Emirates.
Arsenal closing in on new Saka deal
Saka will have a year left on his current deal come next June, which is why there has been slight concern among the Gunners' fanbase regarding his future. You can never count out Real Madrid sniffing around for world-class talent, and the lure of the Santiago Bernabeu is sometimes tough to ignore.
There is positive news on the contract front, though, as BBC Sport's Sami Mokbel have given an update on the situation. He wrote:
"Arsenal's efforts to sign Bukayo Saka to a new long-term contract have progressed and are advancing amid a growing expectation an agreement will be reached."
This is just the news Mikel Arteta and his staff will want in an important moment in the season. Good news brings good vibes, and if the Englishman's future can be sorted before the turn of the year, it will only boost an already happy environment.
A more relaxing environment for the Gunners' number seven
Saka has played his part in a stunning start to the season on all fronts for Arteta's men. They sit top of the league after nine games, with 22 points and a four-point lead over second-placed Bournemouth.
While he hasn't been at his most prolific, Saka has still been a nightmare for the opposition. But it's the club's summer recruitment which has helped alleviate demands of the England international, giving Arteta more options to try and steer his side to a long-awaited title win.
Saka has registered three goals in 10 games across competitions this season. He's displayed his leadership qualities in the process, captaining his beloved North Londoners on five occasions.
