Christos Tzolis transfer update: When will Arsenal announce third summer signing?

Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge and as the transfer moves closer to completion, supporters are eagerly anticipating when the official announcement will be made.

Gunners fans are keen for there to be confirmation of their third summer incoming soon following the permanent signing of Piero Hincapié and the arrival of Illan Meslier since the transfer window first opened.

The deal is fully agreed with some even confirming it as official ahead of Tzolis taking the final steps to becoming an Arsenal player, but when will the deal actually be announced?

Christos Tzolis to Arsenal transfer update

News of an agreement broke last Thursday, but no real updates since has meant there is no expected timeframe for when Tzolis could be announced as the Gunners' next arrival.

Reports in Belgium and Greece claimed the winger was set to have his medical on Sunday while others suggest it is set to take place early this week.

Club Brugge manager Ivan Leko has already appeared to confirm the deal in an interview with DAZN. Speaking on Tzolis' reported departure, he said: "(I am) very happy for him, I am very sad for me on one side, because we are losing a top player.

"This is one fantastic example of somebody who was first coming on the training base, last staying there. Every training was like game for him, giving so much for his career, and then you get the reward to sign for one of the biggest clubs in Europe.

"(It is a) big thing for him, big thing for Club Brugge, big thing for Belgian football. Good lesson for all young boys that we have, that in football you need to work. Stop the talk, work, try to do everything to improve yourself day by day, exactly what Christos was doing.

"I am convinced that he will have his minutes, that he will show some highest level in the Premier League and Champions League at Arsenal, and he will show that he is a top player and absolutely deserves to go and be there."

Tzolis has been tipped by many to be a direct replacement for Leandro Trossard, who departed for Beşiktaş last week, and Leko's comments should fill Arsenal fans with hope that he will be bring plenty of quality to Mikel Arteta's setup.

With no reports on a potential announcement, it's currently down to guess work to wonder when the Greece international will be confirmed as the Gunners' newest signing, but with the World Cup now over and the club's pre-season training officially starting on Monday, it is highly likely it will come at some point in the next week.
