Arsenal has been proactive this summer, but is it enough to be able to win the league?
Arsenal's summer window, as things stand, has been seen as one of the best in recent memory, with the potential for it to get even better.
The signings of Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, and Kepa Arrizabalaga, then with Noni Madueke and Viktor Gyokeres close to being signed, the Gunners, with Andrea Berta, have gone about their business superbly well.
Zubimendi and Gyokeres are instant starters, while Norgaard, Kepa, and Madueke are seen as depth pieces, something that Mikel Arteta desperately missed last season, and in truth, given the injuries, was a big reason for the Gunners failing to overtake Liverpool.
But now they have the weapons to do so, right?
Analyst questions Arsenal's ability to win the league
For most, the one thing that the Gunners were lacking was a genuine goal-scorer from being able to win the league, and now that Gyokeres is expected to come to north London in the coming days, that should give Arsenal all the tools needed to go toe-to-toe with Liverpool and Manchester City.
But James Olley isn't so sure that things will be a good as many think.
“You’re going to need to have players to hit the ground running,” Olley said on ESPN FC. “I have to say, there are more questions than answers, I don’t think these players are ready-made solutions. I like a lot of what they’ve done, but I think there are more questions than answers at this stage.”
Olley would go onto say that the Gunners would need all signings to hit the ground running, with Zubimendi having to control games from the outset, and stated that Gyokeres, while his goal scoring record for Sporting is superb, he isn't proven in the Premier League yet.
That is a valid thought, but we don't see how there can be more questions than answers when the only legitimate weakness Arsenal had last season, as now been fixed.
It seems that until everyone actually sees these signings in action, the skeptics will be in full force. Because, of course, right?
