Arsenal's Eberechi Eze revealed recently that the biggest challenge that he has had since moving from Crystal Palace to the Gunners in the summer is not the adaptability or the pressure of it all.

If he had to pin point one thing, it would be the level and quantity of information that he has received before games.

Eze has had a really inconsistent start to his Arsenal career. Constantly in and out of the starting XI has meant that the player just has not looked at the level that everyone expected him to be at when he first joined the club.

Obviously, there have been challenges, and every player needs time to adapt to the team and the setup that Mikel Arteta has created at Arsenal, but with Eze, it is something more than just that.

In an interview with the club, where they discussed everything around his move to North London, and how he is finding the club in his first few months here, he was also asked about the challenges he has faced.

Eberechi Eze's biggest hurdle at Arsenal has not been adaptability

When speaking about the biggest one, Eze said: “Probably the level of information around games. There's a lot of detail that goes into how we approach a game and prepare for a game and it's been a lot more than what I'm used to.

“So that took some adjusting, but you can see how prepared you have to be in order to be ready at this level so it's definitely something that's necessary but something that maybe took a bit of time to adjust to.

“I do (enjoy that analysis side as well) because you can see the game through a different lens and you can understand the game so much better. It helps inform your decisions on the pitch as well so it's definitely a good tool to have and something that has helped me improve for sure.

“Normally, it’s done as a group, in bigger meetings. It's just a lot of detail and a deep understanding of the game. It’s usually just small ways to help improve and inform decisions.”

This should not be taken as a negative for Eze. Any player who jumps to a club like Arsenal would feel this. Arteta, a manager who is so deeply invested in getting the best out of these players, is obviously going to focus a lot on details and key bits of information.

So, this obviously would be a bit of a learning curve for some players, especially for those who play in such tricky positions where they have to focus on both the attack and the defensive side of things.

So, it is completely understandable for Eze to be feeling this way, and it is also good to see that the player is quickly adjusting to it and improving.

This interview - and this part in general - also shows the side of the players that many people don't talk about. New signings are really exciting, and they bring in a lot of positives, but it must be difficult for these players to get used to different styles, different tactics and different ways to receive information from their managers, and it would take a bit of time to learn.
