Arsenal are set for a busy transfer window despite their quiet start and they have a number of players with contracts expiring they could be looking to ship off.

The Gunners have six players whose deals will run out at the end of the 2026/27 season and if they want to avoid losing anyone on a free, they should be looking for potential suitors or preparing new terms.

Some of these names are slightly forgotten while others are big stars who have played a huge part in Arsenal's rise under MIkel Arteta. Here's our ranking of every player with a contract expiring in 2027 from worst to best.

6. Christian Nørgaard

Christian Nørgaard joined from Brentford on a two-year deal for an initial £10million fee and with one season of that contract already played, he could be set to move on.

The former Denmark international proved to be a useful asset when needed, primarily in cup games, but he was rarely deployed by Arteta, making just 20 appearances across all competitions throughout his debut campaign in North London.

There is an option to extend Nørgaard's by a further year, but given he was below Martín Zubimendi and Myles Lewis-Skelly in the pecking order, he could already be moving on this summer so Arsenal can recoup some of the cash they splashed on him.

Listing him as the worst of the six is probably harsh, but he has hardly made an impact at the Emirates Stadium despite ultimately claiming a Premier League winners' medal.

5. Fábio Vieira

Vieira woah, Vieira woah. He comes from Portugal. He plays for Arsenal. Vieira woah, Vieira woah. An iconic chant among Gooners? Not so much.

Four years have flown by since the Gunners signed Fábio Vieira from Porto for just under £30m and it's safe to say he has failed to live up to expectations.

The Portuguese midfielder came to North London with plenty of promise, but he has made just 49 appearances since first joining, scoring three goals and providing 10 assists in that time.

Having spent the last two seasons out on loan and with his contract expiring in a year, most would expect Vieira to move on permanently this summer.

4. Reiss Nelson

90+7'. The minute Reiss Nelson etched his name into Arsenal folklore with a dramatic winner against Bournemouth to inspire a comeback from two goals down to win 3-2.

A moment that saw the Gunners reclaim a dominant lead at the top of the league table, many thought that was the point they had won the title, but it wasn't to be.

Nelson hasn't been able to build on that strike, with it being the high point of his Arsenal career. Since that goal, he has never managed to sustain a place in the team or squad, prompting injury-stricken loans at Fulham and Brentford.

With his contract set to expire next year, it's safe to assume he will probably be moving on from his boyhood club this summer.

3. Gabriel Jesus

Arriving from Manchester City in 2022, Gabriel Jesus was an integral part of the side that went from mere European spot challengers to serious contenders at the top of the table.

In the early months of the 2022/23 season, he led Arsenal to the league's summit, but injuries soon struck, meaning he constantly struggled to maintain his form and make an impact for Arteta's side.

Jesus has shown rare moments of his brilliance in the last few campaigns, ending last season with a Premier League winners' medal for the fifth time in his career, but his inconsistency has meant he's never quite cut it in North London.

With his deal up next summer, this transfer window could be the time to wave goodbye to the Brazilian, but his contributions at a huge turning point in the history of the club will be fondly remembered.

2. Leandro Trossard

Joining as a second-choice option following a failed move for Mykhailo Mudryk in January 2023, Leandro Trossard has been a firm fan favourite since arriving from Brighton.

He made an instant impact with a number of assists in his first half-campaign before showing his prolific ability in the 2023/24 season.

The Belgian has continued to be an important member of Arteta's setup, scoring a crucial late winner at West Ham in May, the strike that many feel won Arsenal the Premier League.

He isn't expected to reach the end of his contract though after a club-to-club deal was agreed with Beşiktaş just a few days ago meaning his time with the Gunners is likely to come to an end this summer.

1. Gabriel Martinelli

Gabriel Martinelli arrived at Arsenal from Brazilian fourth division side Ituano as an 18-year-old in 2019 and has evolved into a quality winger fresh off the back of winning the Premier League.

However, his form has dropped significantly over the last two years as he has failed to make a consistent impact in attack. Despite that, work should now be done to keep him at the club beyond the expiration of his current deal next year.

With Trossard likely to depart, the Gunners will be looking to sign a left winger, but Martinelli should remain at the club as a challenger for the position.

Arsenal need to offer him a new contract this summer to avoid losing him for nothing in 2027, or they decide to sell both him and his Belgian counterpart and start from scratch on the left.
