Ezri Konsa returned from international duty, with many Arsenal fans fearing that he'd be unavailable to face Leeds United. This afternoon, Mikel Arteta spoke at a press conference, and he had some positive news to bring regarding Konsa. The Spanish boss confirmed Konsa is in contention to face Leeds, pending a late fitness test tomorrow (Saturday).
The England international was signed from Aston Villa in the summer to provide backup to William Saliba, who was always expected to miss the first part of the season.
What injury does Ezri Konsa have?
Ezri Konsa came home from international duty due to an unserious knock. Thomas Tuchel confirmed already that he didn't think fans should worry about Konsa's injury, however, due to the nature of it being international duty, Tuchel was always going to protect his players by allowing them to head home.
Will Ezri Konsa face Leeds United?
Mikel Arteta today confirmed that Konsa is in contention to face Leeds United but, like Kai Havertz, he will undergo a late fitness test tomorrow (Saturday).
In his press conference, Arteta said: "Ezri we had good communication with the England camp... we will see tomorrow"
Who can replace Ezri Konsa at Arsenal?
It is worth noting that Konsa himself is the replacement, but of course, he cannot replace Saliba if he's not feeling 100% himself.
Thankfully for Arsenal fans, they received some positive injury news this week: Cristhian Mosquera is back in training after a spell out injured. The Spanish defender is no stranger to stepping in when Arsenal need him, and this might be another case of him being needed.
Is Ezri Konsa available for Fantasy Football?
Ezri Konsa could be available to play against Leeds this weekend. Therefore, if he is in your team, it is best to keep him this gameweek.
Regardless, Konsa isn't the best option in Fantasy Football. If your budget and allocation allows, Riccardo Calafiori is a safer bet in Fantasy Football. Not only is he Arsenal's strongest choice at left-back, he has more opportunities to get attacking returns, which could lead to more points.
Potential return date: Saturday 10 October (Leeds at home)
