Former Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero praised the job that Mikel Arteta has done at Arsenal since taking over seven years ago.
Arteta has been at the club for seven years, and has built a side that is now ready to contend for every possible title there is.
Seven years ago, the team he inherited was nowhere near the quality it should have been at, and because of that, they had to go through a proper rebuild for the last six years.
There have been a few failed signings, a few bad players, a few promising players ruined by injuries, but finally, Arteta has a team that is well-equipped to take on just about anyone in Europe.
Former Manchester City superstar heaps praise on Mikel Arteta's Arsenal success
Speaking on Arteta, whom he has worked with in the past, Aguero said great things.
He said: "Arteta has proven himself to be a great manager. He has built a solid team that knows how to play and is now always in contention for the title. Let’s remember how many years it has been since Arsenal won the Premier League. And how close they have come to doing so in recent years. I think if you ask Arsenal fans, they will want Arteta to stay at the club for a long time to come.”
Aguero is spot on with what he just said. There have been many fans who have called for him to get sacked in case Arsenal do not win anything this season. There have also been fans who have stuck with him no matter what.
While fans can have any opinion they want, it just simply would not make sense for Arteta to be sacked right when they're at the cusp of success.
Arsenal are winning games, they are advancing to the latter stages of every single competition they are in, and they are at the top of the Premier League so far. If you sack him, that means a lot of the work that has been done in the last few years goes to waste, and the club has to take a few steps back.
It is also worth noting that there are not that many managers available that could do that much better than Arteta with this squad, which is tailor-made for the former Spain international.
Aguero is spot on with his claim. There has been a lot of brilliant moments for Arteta at Arsenal, and there will be plenty more to come, and Arsenal should do everything they can to make sure that he is able to stick around at the club for a while, granted the results and trophies start following suit eventually.
