Arsenal defender Gabriel has a good feeling about the upcoming season.
Arsenal will enter the new season with fresh hope and optimism that this can be the year the club's title drought can come to a swift end...and defender Gabriel thinks so. too.
With the Gunners being rather proactive in the summer with Martin Zubimendi, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Noni Madueke, Christian Norgaard already signed, sealed and delivered, while Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres is thought to be in the final stages of completing his deal, Arsenal has bolstered its squad.
In truth, it needed to, and three consecutive second-place finishes in the year since the 2022/23 season, the Gunners have had enough of being the bridesmaid, they want their turn in the sun.
Gabriel confident of Gunners' chances in 2025/26
Of course, with Liverpool and Manchester City going nowhere, the Gunners are going to likely have to be near-perfect if they are to have a chance at usurping the duo at the top of the Premier League, but if/when Gyokeres is signed, Arsenal would have fixed its most glaring issue and the one reason many believe the club couldn't claim the title last season.
Will things be different this year? Defender Gabriel has a good feeling that it will be.
"I don't think we can give excuses; we did everything we could in the last three years," Gabriel said via ESPN. “I feel like we had a little bit of bad luck sometimes, but we all believe that we can win big titles. The preseason has started. We're focused on what our manager is telling us to do, and what we have to do, and what we have to improve. I think this year will be different."
But it will be a tough start to the season for Arsenal, with Mikel Arteta's side playing Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Newcastle in the first six weeks, so the tone will be set rather early.
Gabriel thinks this year will be different, and granted, every team likely thinks that at this time of year, but the Gunners have made moves to think that they will be one of the genuine challengers this season.
Now, they just have to go do it.
