Arsenal have officially confirmed the signing of former Chelsea winger Noni Madueke from Chelsea.

The England international has joined Arsenal for a reported fee of £48million with another £4m in add-ons. Madueke has put pen to paper on a five-year deal. He will wear the number 20 shirt.

Manager Mikel Arteta commented on the Arsenal website earlier: "We're all so happy to welcome Noni Madueke to the team.

“Noni is an exciting and powerful young player, with his performances and numbers in recent seasons being of consistently high quality. He is one of the most talented wide forward players in the Premier League.

“At just 23, Noni already brings experience of club and international football, and he knows the Premier League very well. Having seen the quality of Noni’s performances up close in recent seasons, we’re really excited he is joining us.

Transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano, dropped the news earlier this week on social media that Arsenal would be announcing their fourth transfer of the window imminently.

Madueke was first linked with the Gunners early in the window with Mikel Arteta reported to be a fan of the player.

This signing is being seen as a back-up for Bukayo Saka and that can only be good news for the Gunners. Madueke can play on both the right and the left which could make him a valuable addition to the squad.

Noni Madueke has represented England in all age groups

Madueke has made 92 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 20 times and racking up 9 assists along the way.

After progressing through the youth academies of Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur, Madueke made the switch to PSV Eindhoven in 2019 where he quickly progressed to the senior side.

Incredibly Madueke has represented England at Under 16, 17, 18, under-21, and senior level. In 2023, he featured in all of the England Under-21's games as they went on to lift the EUFA European Championship.

At the age of 20, Madueke joined Chelsea for a fee in the region of £28.5 million, scoring his first goal (coincidentally) at the Emirates in a 3-1 defeat to the Gunners in May 2023.

Madueke joins Arsenal hoping to prove his doubters wrong and win over the Arsenal faithful.

Not all Arsenal fans are happy with the decision to pursue Madueke with some online abuse overstepping the mark in recent days.
