Ian Wright spoke for all Arsenal fans with what he said about Man City on Tuesday

Ian Wright revealed his instant reaction to Manchester City being found guilty of breaching over 100 Premier League regulations on Tuesday, and his thoughts definitely reflected the feelings of the Arsenal world.

The legendary striker has so often been the eloquent spokesperson for Gunners supporters, and he didn't fail to deliver when it came to addressing City's systematic cheating. The pundit described the north-west club's impropriety as 'cheating on an industrial scale', before calling for an 'unprecedented punishment' to be dished out to the guilty party.

David Ornstein broke the news of the verdict on City's case late last week, and after days of people questioning the reputable journalist, the Premier League verified the report on Tuesday afternoon. Releasing an official statement on their website, the governing body provided the details behind the Independent Panel's verdict.

City have been found to have artificially inflated their revenues by more than £900 million to appear to comply with financial regulations. They did this by creating 'sham' contracts with sponsorships, while also offering players and managers off-the-books payments.

The Manchester club are set to appeal, whilst they await potential sanctions.

While Arsenal supporters are largely excited at what the future might hold in the potential absence of their current greatest rivals, many are also lamenting the fact that City's breaches potentially robbed them of silverware in the past.

Wright echoed these sentiments with his reaction, whilst urging the Premier League to show City no mercy.

"It's cheating on an industrial scale," he said on ITV before England's game against Czechia on Tuesday night.

"It's quite surreal seeing it written down like that, and throughout all the times, I've tried to mention it [City's charges]. You can't mention City without mentioning what's been going on, because they were so great.

"The amount of stick I've taken off that - it's a whole different story. I feel unprecedented punishments are required here. Some punishment will maybe be symbolic; it doesn't mean it shouldn't happen.

"It's a massive day for the Premier League. They're taking on a whole country. You know, massive."

Asked by presenter Mark Pougatch about how things might transpire in the coming months, Wright claimed that it could get 'very messy'.

"Very messy, very messy," he said.

"It is quite appropriate for them to be going to Liverpool [after the international brea] because you'd have to say, in their real times, that four in a row, Liverpool were the team that were chasing them down.

"You look at what Klopp went through with that team and what Klopp himself went through to try and beat that team, to try and break them. In the end, it probably broke him.

"It's been done wrong, in an illegal way. It's so sad and it's just going to keep getting deep. It's going to get so litigious now. I think it's going to go on for so long."

While Wright should be lauded for his stoic reaction to the verdict, his final point may spark some disagreement. Many in the media seem to believe that this is going to drag on for a while longer, but it actually might be resolved sooner than many think.

City's deadline to appeal is on Friday, meaning that particular step is imminent. Furthermore, the Premier League cannot afford to let this drag on.

A title is up for grabs this season, and the league would descend into chaos if City were to win it. It's therefore in everyone's interest, barring City's, for a punishment to be inflicated on the Citizens before the end of this season.

The league cannot let City continue to influence results without being punished, and they've shown in the past they can be swift on this front. Everton and Nottingham Forest's points deductions were implemented quickly. There is no reason for this to drag on much longer.
