The Gunners have been linked with Eberechi Eze, but will Andreas Berta pull the trigger on a move?

Arsenal's need for more wide depth has been something that was seen as nearly as important as getting a striker through the doors this offseason.

Now that Viktor Gyokeres and Noni Madueke have been signed, and both have already been integrating into the team ahead of the season opener against Manchester United, there is a feeling that more is needed, especially out wide.

That brings us to Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze, a player the Gunners have been linked with for months, and fresh of helping the Eagles to an F.A. Community Shield win, his value might have just gone up.

But are the Gunners still interested?

With Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Ethan Nwaneri, Leandro Trossard, and Madueke, is that enough?

Some aren't sold, but will Palace want to part ways with such a crucial player this close to the season?

Palace chairman coy on Eze transfer

It appears that Palace might be thinking that Eze, along with Marc Guehi, could be on the way out of the club in the near future, and considering how close it is to the start of the league season, that would be a blow.

But it would be big for Arsenal.

And when asked about the possibility of Eze or Guehi staying, Palace chairman Steve Parish gave nothing away.

“Yeah, of course, but listen, players come and go in football clubs," Parish said via Hayters TV. "I mean, it’s a life cycle, isn’t it? Hopefully, they’ll still be here, that’s what I’d like. But we’ll see."

So that doesn't sound like a chairman who is confident that two of his star players will be staying put, and in fact, it sounds the opposite.

Many believe that if the Gunners are to further invest in the squad, Mikel Arteta and Co. will need to offload players to balance the books, with Trossard being mentioned as a possible candidate, while Oleksandr Zinchenko has reportedly been the subject of a bid from Fenerbahce.

So Palace aren't sold on keeping ahold of Eze, and the Gunners might just be ready to pounce.
