Arsenal's Premier League title hopes are now hanging in the balance after they allowed Manchester City to keep their own fate in their hands with Sunday's results. Erling Haaland's winner saw City beat Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium, and that means City are just three points behind with a game in hand.
As things stand, goal difference will decide the Premier League champion, but there could yet be twists and turns between now and the final whistle of the season. City look as though they have the momentum, but they have fumbled games unexpectedly this season, just like Arsenal in recent weeks.
Jamie Carragher thinks Man City will win the Premier League over Arsenal
Neither side has managed to take the title race by the scruff of the neck, but one of them will need to over the course of the next few weeks. According to Jamie Carragher, that will likely be City, but he was encouraged by Arsenal's performance against Pep Guardiola's men.
“I think City have got the edge,” Carragher said on Sky Sports. “I just think momentum, experience, how that will affect Arsenal psychologically… not just that game, the run of games that they’re on, the performances as well.
“This was definitely a better performance, there’s no doubt about that. I thought it was a brilliant game, it was a testament to both teams, both managers, it felt like a real top-level game.”
Many fans are now closely analysing the remaining fixtures, which see Arsenal face Newcastle United, Fulham, West Ham, Burnley and Crystal Palace, with a couple of Champions League games with Atlertico Madrid mixed into that run.
Meanwhile, City face Burnley Everton, Brentford, Bournemouth, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa, and they have the FA Cup to worry about.
City arguably have the more difficult of the fixtures, given they face three European hopefuls on the bounce after the Burnley game, and the Villa game to finish the season will be a tricky one.
But according to Carragher, the fixtures don't matter all that much, and it's simply about who can hold their nerve.
“City have got the harder fixtures, there’s no doubt." Carragher added. “But when you get to this stage and you’re in Arsenal’s position, just searching for a win from anywhere and the nerves are kicking in, the supporters are getting anxious, their next two games are at home in the Premier League, it almost doesn’t matter who you play.
“It’s more about you really. We’ve seen them lose to Bournemouth and most people would have said that was a game they should win.
“Newcastle is the next game and Newcastle are struggling right now, but you can’t hang your hat on Arsenal at the moment because this run has gone on now for four or five games in different competitions and they just need to stop it quickly.”
