Man City vs Arsenal makes one Mosquera vs White choice feel obvious

Arsenal come up against Man City away from home this weekend. With an injury crisis haunting both sides, Arsenal fans will hope to have Jurriën Timber back in time to face the team in second place. If not, it will be down to either Ben White or Cristhian Mosquera; of the two, Mosquera is a much clearer fit to face Man City.

The pecking order is very much Timber at the top. He's at the top by a considerable distance, but that counts for nothing if Timber isn't available to face Man City. Mosquera and White aren't as far apart from each other as they are from Timber, but this game requires more of what Mosquera can bring.

A clean sheet is enough for Arsenal at Man City

Arsenal don't need to go all guns blazing. They'd get ridiculed for 'playing defensively for a draw,' but let's face it, they'll get ridiculed no matter what they do. Teams below the top always hate the team at the top.

Arsenal keeping a clean sheet against Man City is a tough ask, especially away from home. However, a clean sheet is all that's required. That way, they'd still hold the keys to the Premier League title this season.

And, look, Premier League champions rarely beat the team in second away from home. In fact, in the last ten seasons, that has only happened twice - Man City doing so both times, once at Old Trafford and once at the Emirates Stadium. If Arsenal do get a draw away from home, that important detail will get lost on those finding any excuse to belittle Arsenal's achievements.

Cristhian Mosquera is a better defender than Ben White

Where Ben White offers more going forward, Cristhian Mosquera offers more from a defensive point of view. Considering the Gunners will play a lot of this game defensively, they need to set up in such a way that gives them the most protection.

Arsenal will need their full-backs ripe and ready for the challenge. Mosquera would feel much more comfortable defending against Jeremy Doku than White would.

No Arsenal fan would turn their nose up at a draw against Man City. If they do, they don't want to see Arsenal winning trophies.

Arsenal tried to play football in the 'proper' way for so long, but it got us nowhere. The latter stages of Arsene Wenger were a hellhole despite the beautiful football on display. The Invincibles were nowhere near as pretty as the Cazorla-Wilshere link-ups, but they won a golden Premier League trophy.

Win games, whatever it takes to win them. Or draw them, in the rare situation that it'll suffice. That's more important than making the highlight reels.
