Mikel Arteta now finds himself in elite company after managing Arsenal to a 2-0 victory over London rivals West Ham on Saturday.

The Gunners boss took charge of his 300th game at the Emirates helm and secured his 177th win as gaffer, the joint-fifth most triumphs for a manager of a top-flight English side in their first 300 matches.

The Spaniard is now among some of the biggest names to have graced English football over the years, an accomplishment that shouldn't be overlooked.

Arteta has equalled Jürgen Klopp's feat as Liverpool manager, with the German also tallying 177 wins in his first 300 games in charge. The pair are just seven victories behind Kenny Dalglish, one of the Reds' most iconic managers who led them to three league titles in the late 1980s.

José Mourinho is second in the list with 196 triumphs over his two spells at Chelsea while Pep Guardiola leads the way by some distance with 219 victories.

While Arteta is yet to manage the silverware brilliance these managers accomplished at their respective clubs, this achievement is a great testament to the work he is done during his near six years at Arsenal.

His 177 wins have seen him lead the club to FA Cup glory in his debut season, two Community Shield wins, three second-place finishes with two convincing title challenges, a return to the Champions League after a six-season absence and a semi-final finish in Europe's premier competition.

The Spaniard is the seventh manager to take charge of 300 games for Arsenal and is the second-youngest to do so after Terry Neill, who managed the Gunners between 1976 and 1983. Arteta even managed 13 more victories and a higher win rate than Arsène Wenger did in his opening three centuries as gaffer.

Fans can complain all day that it's all well and good Arteta achieving such a feat, but it's pointless without any silverware. However, it shows the hard work he has put in throughout his time in north London as he has turned the club from being potential mid-table dwellers to one of the best in the world.

Despite this, there is no arguing that trophies will have to come soon and it looks like they will be. No manager can find themselves among some of the best in English football history without being close to their own success. There are still plenty of big things to come under the leadership of Mikel Arteta.
