Mikel Arteta is set to hit an incredible personal milestone against West Ham as he takes charge of his 300th game as Arsenal manager.

The Spaniard will achieve the feat after almost six years at the helm of the Gunners, a period where he has overseen plenty of success and change at the club.

He will likely put this aside while he is on the touchline for tomorrow's capital clash with the Hammers, but it would be brilliant for him to mark the occasion with a victory.

After being appointed as Arsenal head coach on 20 December 2019, Arteta took charge of his first game six days later in a trip to Bournemouth that ended in a 1-1 draw.

At the end of a mixed first season with the reins, he delivered the Gunners their first trophy since 2017 as he led his side to victory in the FA Cup final, defeating Chelsea 2-1. Things looked on the up for the Spaniard, but he endured a difficult second campaign, finishing eighth for a succesive year.

However, it only improved from there as he got the north London side back challenging for the European spots before leading them in a title charge against Manchester City in the 2022/23 season. While that was ultimately unsuccessful, he bolstered his squad that year and made brave decisions that were for the good of the club.

Another failed title challenge followed before an underwhelming league campaign put a downer on 2024/25. However, Arteta did guide Arsenal to their first Champions League semi-final since 2009, a run that included a sensational 5-1 aggregate win over Real Madrid.

Following another summer of heavy spending, the Spaniard now finds himself under pressure to deliver silverware for the Gunners, but has been backed by many to finally do so. His 300th game in charge comes at a perfect time where his side can turn the tide in the early stages of the title race as they are presented with the opportunity to overtake league leaders Liverpool. There will still be a lot of football to play this season, but it would be a great way to mark the milestone.

He will become just the eighth manager to achieve the feat for Arsenal, finding himself in the company of club legends such as Arsène Wenger, George Graham and Herbert Chapman. Fans will only hope that he can now go on and match the success those managers enjoyed while in charge of the club.

It's been a long journey so far, but there are still plenty of exciting moments to come under the leadership of Mikel Arteta.
