Eberechi Eze was seen as a coup signing for Arsenal when he arrived from Crystal Palace last summer. There were high hopes for Eze given his ability on the ball and the fact that he scored the winner for Palace in the FA Cup final against Manchester City last season.

It was a great story for Eze as it meant that he went full circle after being released from the Arsenal academy when he was just a boy. His signing made him an instant hero at the Emirates Stadium, as he joined from under the noses of bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Eze rubbed salt in the wounds of Spurs fans as he went on to score a hat-trick against them earlier in the season. However, those were to be his last Premier League goal involvements so far this season.

The attacking midfielder has still produced moments of magic for Arsenal since. However, he has often been left on the bench or appeared as a substitute recently.

What did Mikel Arteta say about Eberechi Eze?

Speaking in a press conference, Arteta appeared to hint that Eze is not ready to start for the Gunners. He said, "You have to impact the game consistently throughout 96 minutes at this level. Any phase, any action is the most important action and on top of that you have to be able to add other values. In his case he is very, very good and unique at creating those magic moments. So that is the demand of each player."

The problem for Eze is that he is not being given a chance to impress for 90 minutes. The last time he played the full-game in the league was the match with Spurs, which was back in November.

It was always going to be difficult for Eze to start regularly for the Gunners, as he is competing directly with Martin Odegaard for the number 10 position. However, given Odegaard's mixed form recently, it would be worth Arteta taking a chance on Eze.

Kai Havertz played attacking midfield against Leeds United last weekend, and the Gunners went on to win 4-0. Havertz did not have a goal involvement, but Arteta might be reluctant to change a winning side. There is still a lot of soccer to be played this season, and there are sure to be many twists and turns in the title race. Therefore, Eze will no doubt get more of an opportunity for Arsenal.
