Mikel Arteta is a poet, both on and off the pitch. The way he sets up his team with a fluid style of play is poetic in its own right, but those who keep an eye on Mikel Arteta and his team talks know that he has a way with words, too.

It's for this reason that he is at the heart of many big players coming to join Arsenal. The likes of Declan Rice, Jurrien Timber and Viktor Gyokeres all have anecdotal evidence that Mikel Arteta has the gift of the gab, and may have even swayed them from other clubs.

Well, in a recent interview before the Premier League season kicked off against Man United, Mikel Arteta shared an analogy that should ring true for Arsenal fans.

Mikel Arteta says Arsenal must "explode" now

Speaking to Men in Blazers, Mikel Arteta described this season as a volcano, with pressure built up from recent seasons, and now it's time for that volcano to explode.

In his own words, Arteta said: “It’s time [for Arsenal] to explode now, like the volcano that is there & is ready to go. We want to win every single match & no doubt we’re going to continue that way, but with that fire that is the joy to play with each other.”

It's certainly true that Arsenal fans feel the built-up pressure of that volcano. It seems like every season, Arsenal gets closer and closer to winning a big trophy, but it never quite prevails. If the volcano exploding is in reference to winning something big, then Arsenal fans will really resonate with this Arteta analogy and hope it comes true.

As part of the same interview, Mikel Arteta said that success can mean many things. However, he sees the need for Arsenal to win a trophy. It's interesting that Arteta differentiated this as being a "big trophy," having won the FA Cup already as a manager.

On this, Arteta said: “We certainly want a trophy & we want the big ones. Success can be measured in very different ways; a trophy is the most common one for everybody, but success as well is the transformation of this club.”

Well, that journey towards winning a big trophy starts today, in only a few hours to be exact. Arsenal has a good record against big clubs, and this needs to stay the same if they want to taste Premier League victory at the end of this season.
