The most impressive story in Arsenal beating Tottenham isn't spoken about enough

Eberechi Eze's hat-trick against the very club he snubbed to earn a dream move to Arsenal made all the headlines after a 4-1 North London derby win over Tottenham. The English attacker reminded Thomas Frank exactly who he is with three excellent goals at the Emirates on Sunday evening.

Those strikes came after Leandro Trossard's opener as the Belgian continued to keep up his impressive form this season. He was one whom many expected to be on the move in the summer, but he stayed put, signed an improved deal and has been one of Mikel Arteta's most important players.

But those are just two of several stories to talk about after yet another statement-victory for Arteta's men in their bid to end a 22-year wait for Premier League glory. One other talking point has gone under the radar.

Piero Hincapie's full league debut ends in North London derby delight

Gabriel Magalhaes' nightmare injury sustained on international duty in a friendly with Brazil threatened to derail Arsenal's momentum. The November break came amid some fantastic performances from the team as a collective, but Gabriel as an individual, including his winner in a 2-1 comeback win over Newcastle.

Arteta turned to Piero Hincapie as his replacement for the North London derby, a bold call given the magnitude of the game. The Ecuadorian was preferred over Cristhian Mosquera as his manager wanted a left footer to sit next to William Saliba.

Hincapie put in an assured display, making four clearances, winning two of three aerial duels and making one interception. He lasted 88 minutes before Mosquera came on to help the hosts see out a comfortable win over their lackluster neighbours.

The 23-year-old will gain confidence from experiencing one of the Premier League's most high-profile games and performing well. With Gabriel expected to be out for a few weeks, it means there's every chance he continues in the back four against Bayern Munich on Wednesday (November 26).

Arteta's explanation will do Hincapie the world of good

Arteta spoke about opting to start Hincapie with Saliba after the victory over the Lilywhites. The Spaniard didn't just delve into the tactical side of the decision but acknowledged the Ecuadorian's success at a young age in an interview with Sky Sports (via Now Arsenal):

"We believe what we want to do is the best partnership. We have the absence of Gabi for the next few weeks, and we need the stability we have had in the past. He’s won the (Bundesliga) already in Germany and, for his age, already has a lot of football in his legs.”

Hincapie was part of a Bayer Leverkusen side that went unbeaten in the German top-flight in 2023-24 to claim the Bundesliga title and end Bayern Munich's lengthy stranglehold on the division. That is a similar scenario he finds himself in as part of the Gunners' attempts to end their title drought, but also stop Manchester City and Liverpool's dominance over the past decade.
