Noni Madueke already put the writing on the wall for one Arsenal player, but now it's in bold

The warning signs were always there.

When Noni Madueke arrived at Arsenal, he was already signalling the beginning of the end for Ethan Nwaneri. After returning from an awful loan spell, with Noni Madueke in red-hot form at the World Cup, Nwaneri's time at Arsenal is all but over.

Nwaneri is an incredible player, and he will go down as one of the best players to come out of Hale End, but he's left between a rock and a hard place at Arsenal. With both Madueke and Saka ahead of him in the pecking order, his only other option at Arsenal is to play in the midfield.

The midfield isn't exactly short of options, either.

Ethan Nwaneri probably won't be at Arsenal for 2026/27

The signs all point to one thing: Ethan Nwaneri leaving Arsenal this summer.

Whether it's on loan or permanent deal remains to be seen, but hopefully the consensus is for Nwaneri to leave on loan. It seems far too early to give up on him just now, but it would be a lie to say he's ready to play for the Premier League champions on a weekly basis.

Arsenal would need to think strategically about his next loan. They couldn't have foreseen how disastrous his loan to Marseille would have been, but it must be used as a learning curve.

Furthermore, they must have the difficult question. A loan move only suits all parties if there is a genuine path to the Arsenal starting lineup upon his return. If there isn't, then what's the point in loaning him? If Arsenal are to generate pure profit from Nwaneri at any point, then they need to strike while the iron's hot.

Noni Madueke and Bukayo Saka set for compelling healthy competition

When Noni Madueke and Bukayo Saka return from the World Cup, their value in the Arsenal ranks would have skyrocketed. Due to Saka's game management, Madueke has started England's first two games - after which, the Three Lions sit top of Group L.

England fans are beginning to notice exactly what Noni Madueke offers on the wing, and frankly, it's a nice reminder for Arsenal fans, too. Madueke is a completely different player from Saka, with Noni being much more of a traditional winger in the sense of stretching teams. Saka, on the other hand, is the master of cutting inside.

With both players set to enter the height of their game in the new season, Ethan Nwaneri cannot help but feel left out. The conversation about his Arsenal future must happen now. It cannot wait any longer.
