Patrice Evra has recommended Manu Kone to join a club like Arsenal. Make of that what you will.
In a recent interview, Evra was asked about his countryman, Kone, a talented footballer who had a great World Cup campaign with France, and the former Manchester United player said he could do really well in the Premier League.
He said: “I like Manu Kone’s profile for the Premier League. He has energy, he carries the ball, he likes duels and he works for the team.
“All of those things matter in England. The Premier League is faster. You don’t get time to breathe. So the important thing is adaptation. Don’t judge him after five games.
“If he goes to Arsenal with a manager who knows how to use him, I think he can do well. He definitely has the tools. Then it is about consistency.”

On one hand, it is good praise from Evra to Mikel Arteta. The Frenchman knows Arteta can get the best out of players and profile them well, which is what Kone would need if he joins.
Now, as good as Kone is, there are two problems with this. The first, and the biggest elephant in the room - why the heck is Evra, a Manchester United great, potentially and indirectly recommending Arsenal any players to sign? Not to mention, by the way, that the player in question is actually being linked with Manchester United. It is bizarre.
Secondly, Arsenal are already well covered in midfield at the moment, with or without the signing of Bruno Guimaraes. If Guimaraes is not signed and Arteta still wants another midfielder, Kone would be a great option, but as of now, there is absolutely no need, because it is expected that the Guimaraes deal will be completed eventually.
With Guimaraes and Vinicius Jr being at the centre of attention for all decision-makers at Arsenal, the club hasn't really been linked with any other players.
They don't really need any other players if they are able to sign them, and if, for some reason, it isn't possible, they would presumably look for more options.
Sure, Evra is a pundit now and he discusses all things related to the Premier League, but it is just confusing that a Manchester United great is talking about a player that his own club is being linked with, and saying that he should join Arsenal, a team he openly has talked trash about multiple times.
Make it make sense.
