Negative #2: Arsenal's impatient build-up

Once again Arsenal's rigidity meant that forward passes were too easily read and intercepted. There is still a lack of movement and a lack of patience in getting the ball forward.

Only a couple of times did an early pass really stretch the Liverpool defence and on both occasions, Madueke was the out ball.

When the Gunners did move the ball into good areas, they opted for the wrong pass too often. As early as the fourth minute Jurien Timber won the ball and surged forward.

Instead of giving an easy pass out wide to Martinelli, Timber tried to thread the ball through the eye of a needle to Gyokeres. The pass was never really on and this was an early example of Arsenal's poor decision making in the final third that would become a feature of the match.

The movement off the ball did not help matters. The Gunners are still struggling to make overlapping runs and everything is looking just a little predictable.

Positive #3: Eberechi Eze made his Arsenal debut

The signing of Eberechi Eze has been one of the transfer window's ongoing sagas. After finally getting their man, Arsenal were able to give Eze his debut at Anfield on Sunday.

Coming on alongside Martin Odegaard, Eze added an attacking dimension that Arsenal had lacked up until his introduction.

Although Eze's debut did not end the way that he and Arsenal would have wanted, it was clear that he will inject some real pace into the attacking third. He looked threatening on the ball too. Alongside Odegaard, Eze was able to find room to probe the open spaces in front of the Liverpool defence.

Once the Arsenal squad return after the international break, Eze will no doubt get the opportunity to establish himself in the side. Making his debut on Sunday at Anfield can only be seen as a positive.
