Arsenal find themselves in a deficit for the Arsenal vs Porto 2nd leg. After holding the main chunk of possession in the 1st leg and controlling the game, a wonder-goal from the home team saw Arsenal travel back from Portugal with little to show for themselves.

2 changes which Mikel Arteta must make for the Arsenal vs Porto 2nd leg

With that said, here are 2 changes Mikel Arteta must make ahead of the 2nd leg...

Start Gabriel Jesus, drop Leandro Trossard

Assuming that Gabriel Jesus is back from his injury by then, he must get the nod ahead of Leandro Trossard.

With the greatest possible respect to Leandro Trossard, who has been exceptional this season, Porto seem to have his number. Against low-blocks, Trossard might not be the best option and instead, Mikel Arteta should go for Gabriel Jesus.

Gabriel Jesus has a tremendous Champions League pedigree and he was Arsenal's best player in the group stage.

His exceptional link-up play and ball control in tight spaces will benefit Arsenal more than Leandro Trossard's space exploitation. After all, Trossard is better against tired legs, so this change is a win-win.

Start Jorginho, drop Kai Havertz

In my opinion, Kai Havertz played well in the 1st leg. However, given that Arsenal are chasing a win, Jorginho is the better option.

He is a big-game player and his composure in the midfielder is everything the Gunners need. Just because they are chasing a win, doesn't mean they need to go full-throttle from kick-off and forget about the basics.

Having Jorginho to compose and dictate the play could be the deciding factor for Mikel Arteta. Furthermore, he is the most creative of the two, so every little helps in that regard.
