In recent windows, the term "market opportunity" has often been used as the reasoning behind some of Arsenal's transfer ventures. In these instances, the club looks to target a profile of player that has become available for a reasonable price compared to their true market value.

Opportunities like these don't come often, and it has become part of Arsenal's strategy to target such opportunities wherever possible.

The news surrounding Dani Olmo's temporary release clause has the characteristics of a potential market opportunity written all over it. Fabrizio Romano reports that this clause is worth around €60m and will expire on 20 July. The player himself spoke on exit rumours, confirming the existence of the clause and then adding that if clubs want him: "They know what they can do."

After a memorable Euro 2024, Olmo's quality is undeniable, and the race for his signature is seemingly open too. Should Arsenal make a move now or are they better off saving their funds? Here are two pros and cons to the Spaniard's potential switch to north London.

Pro #1 - Straightforward, early deal

Arsenal have technically made moves this summer already; David Raya has made his stay permanent and the Gunners have struck a deal for 18-year-old prospective goalkeeper Tommy Setford, as well. But still, they are yet to make a new first-team signing.

Negotiations with Bologna for Riccardo Calafiori have dragged on for what feels like weeks, and pre-season is just around the corner now too. It's helpful to wrap up most transfers as early as possible to give incomings the best chance to settle in with the squad, but Arsenal have struggled to do that this window.

If the club are to be on the lookout for a player of Olmo's profile this summer, the circumstances of this deal mean this is the best opportunity to get that piece of business out of the way. A release clause means we could get a swift conclusion to this saga.

Pro #2 - Embodies the Arsenal culture

The reasoning behind a connection between Arsenal and Dani Olmo is primarily because of the fact that this player embodies part of the culture ingrained in the club's history. Naturally talented, creative midfielders are a custom in the team's style of play, and Arsenal have been home to many over the years.

In particular, a few of Spain's finest interiors have already come and left their mark at the Emirates: Cesc Fabregas, Santi Cazorla, Mikel Arteta, and Jack Wilshere (not strictly Spanish, but he may as well have been).

A La Masia graduate, Dani Olmo fits right in with the club's identity, with a powerful technical base and a fantastic reading of the game. Furthermore, He has shown very recently at the Euros that he is capable of creating moments of magic when his team needs them the most. Arsenal's attacking midfield department would be complete if Olmo joined the likes of Martin Odegaard, Fabio Vieira and Emile Smith Rowe. Arsene Wenger would be proud.
